The first official teaser for the much-anticipated TV anime, DAN DA DAN, has been released. The anime is based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan, a new-generation manga that has amassed over 360 million views on Shōnen Jump+ and has over 3.2 million print copies in circulation. The plot of Dandadan, a supernatural action-thriller with elements of comedy and romance, is both eccentric and extremely engaging.

The anime is being produced by Science SARU, a studio co-founded by Masaaki Yuasa and Eunyoung Choi, renowned for their unique style and popular animated works. Fûga Yamashiro, who has previously collaborated with Yuasa on projects like Tatami Time Machine Blues, will direct DAN DA DAN. Hiroshi Seko, known for his work on popular anime series like Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Attack on Titan: The Final Season, will be responsible for the script.

Here is the official synopsis for the anime:

The story revolves around Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, who is obsessed with the occult. After Momo saves Okarun from bullies, they start a conversation. However, they end up arguing as Momo believes in ghosts but denies the existence of aliens, while Okarun believes in aliens but denies the existence of ghosts.

To prove their beliefs, Momo visits an abandoned hospital where a UFO has been sighted, and Okarun goes to a tunnel rumored to be haunted. They both experience intense paranormal activities that are beyond their understanding. Amid these events, Momo discovers her hidden power and Okarun acquires a curse power to tackle these new threats! Their destined love also begins!?

DAN DA DAN is set to debut in October 2024 and will be available for streaming worldwide on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
