Piaget Reintroduces the Classic Polo 79 in Luxurious Yellow Gold
In celebration of its 150th anniversary, Piaget is reintroducing a cherished Polo watch model that captures the essence of 1980s glamour and sporty elegance.
This reimagined version of the 1979 Polo watch is a faithful homage to its predecessor, featuring a design that evokes a sense of nostalgia while honoring the original with its name. The watch is adorned with Piaget’s signature gadroon pattern across the bracelet, case, and dial, and is crafted entirely in 18k yellow gold, yet maintains a light presence on the wrist at just 200 grams.
The Piaget Polo 79 stands out with its understated beauty, opting for minimal additional decoration. The dial showcases subtle dotted engravings for the hour markers and minute track, complemented by the Piaget logo and harmonious dauphine hands.
Despite its luxurious look, the original model was marketed as “the world’s ultimate sports watch” when it first debuted, praised for its shockproof and waterproof qualities. The modern iteration enhances its functionality with the 1200P1 Manufacture self-winding movement, which is visible through the transparent caseback. This advanced movement is housed in a slender 38mm case with a mere 7.45mm thickness.
With only 79 pieces available, the Piaget Polo 79 is a limited edition offering, carrying a price of $73,000 USD.
