The New Look trailer depicts Christian Dior and Coco Chanel’s fashion breakthroughs

The trailer for the upcoming historical drama series, The New Look, has been released by Apple TV+. The series, set during the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris, traces the journey of designer Christian Dior to fame.

Emmy-winning actor Ben Mendelsohn plays Dior, who founded his eponymous fashion house during this turbulent era and introduced the “new look,” a term now synonymous with contemporary fashion. The series narrates Dior’s rise amidst competition from his famous contemporaries: Pierre Balmain (Thomas Poitevin), Cristóbal Balenciaga (Nuno Lopes), and notably, Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche).

The official synopsis states, “As Dior’s groundbreaking, iconic beauty and influence catapult him to prominence, Chanel’s position as the world’s top fashion designer is threatened.”

The series, which spans 10 episodes, also features Glenn Close as Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Carmel Snow, Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich as French designer Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi, and Claes Bang as Spatz
